Did You Know These 3 Uses of Dental Composite?

Metal fillings were the most widely used materials for restorative treatment in dentistry in the past. However, more and more dental professionals are now opting for Dental Composites as their preferred material.

Dental Composites are synthetic resins that provide better results due to their natural appearance and strength. Here are three uses of Dental Composite that you might not be aware of:

1 - Dental Inlays

Inlays made of Dental Composites are used to fit inside the teeth to fill tooth decay or damage within the cusps of the teeth. They reduce the damage to the tooth surface.

Dental Composites are usually matched to the colour of the teeth to make the inlay less noticeable after fitting.

2 - Dental Onlays

Onlays are usually used when a cavity is too large to fill with traditional fillings. Onlays are suitable in cases of decay and damage to the cusps and spaces in-between, unlike the Inlays.

An onlay also strengthens the teeth and also protects the decaying area. Using onlays is considered a good alternative to crowns, as it helps save more teeth.

3 – Veneers

Veneers are thin, tooth-coloured shells placed over the front teeth. They are used to correct various dental issues such as discolourations, clipped teeth, gaps between teeth etc.

Veneers made of Dental composites require less tooth enamel to be removed than porcelain veneers.
